Arianne October Garner:

“I am an oil painter who paints often dark, high contrast, and chromatic scenes and portraits. The work I make originally sprang from a need for escapism, and a desire to curate a scene that to me, was fantastical. I am someone who is highly specific about color and environment, and my work serves as a direct counter to the visual language of average daily life which comprises mostly grays and browns, and otherwise non analogous combinations. I’m most inspired by art history, religious baroque imagery, the expression of femininity and gender, the macabre, and fantasy media. I find it incredibly important to meld the traditional with the sensibilities of a creative mind in the modern age, and not so much subverting the traditional in a way that condemns it but conveys an appreciation. I’d like those who experience my work to run away with what might happen if they wore the “fuchsia tinted glasses” in this world and the next.
