Call Waiting

Statement:

These paintings are a reaction to my previous drawings. In that work I described isolated found objects or spaces as single moments acting as artifacts of what has been left behind. What I have become fascinated with is the way that I recall these memories I am drawing influence from, and how they are in a constant state of change. In these paintings, I am creating larger conversations between these moments with multiple ideations of themselves available, repeating, and in turn, causing change in the way the moment or memory is recounted. To explore this concept, I have introduced the laser cutter into my process. The laser cutter embeds or etches into the surface the moments that are unchanged, juxtaposed with the relationship they hold to the painted surface. It is within this relationship that meaning is found.
